Paul Kerley Appointed as FPAI Chairman

The FinTech and Payments Association of Ireland (FPAI) has announced the appointment of Paul Kerley as Chairman. New Directors announced: Ruth McCarthy; Brian McCabe and Mark Bonham.

Paul Kerley is an entrepreneur and investor who in 1998, founded Norkom Technologies, a global financial crime and compliance solutions provider. As CEO, Paul took this award-winning company public in 2006, following a successful IPO. Following this, Paul invested in another Irish RegTech success story, Fenergo and assumed the role of Chairman in 2012. Paul has served on the boards of a number of technology companies, including Non-Executive Chairman of SmartBin and Non-Executive Director of MindConnex Learning. Paul was named the Technology Person of the Year by the Irish Software Association (ISA) in 2009 and Ernst & Young’s Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year back in 2000. He is a graduate of Dublin City University.

Paul will succeed Colm Lyon who was the inaugural Chairman and co-founder of the Association.

The FPAI continues to provide an important forum for FinTech stakeholders in Ireland to create the most compelling environment for both indigenous and multi-national FinTech and Payments companies to excel, and we look forward to working with Paul as the FPAI moves into its next stage of evolution.

‘I would also like to thank Colm Lyon for his leadership and commitment as the inaugural Chairman of FPAI. Colm played an integral role in the formation of the association alongside FPAI founding Directors Morgan Lynch, Anna Scally and Colm Rafferty.’

In addition, the FPAI has announced the appointment of three new board Directors: Ruth McCarthy, CEO of FEXCO Corporate Payments; Brian McCabe, Head of EMEA Product & Innovation at State Street and Mark Bonham, Payments Compliance Program Manager EMEA/APAC at Airbnb.

Ruth McCarthy, CEO of FEXCO Corporate Payments
Ruth McCarthy is CEO of FEXCO Corporate Payments and Non Executive Director at Goodbody Stockbrokers. She was formerly Head of Compliance at FEXCO Foreign Exchange Services and began her career as a solicitor with Arthur Cox. She graduated from Trinity College, Dublin with a degree in law and subsequently completed a MSc in Regulation, Law, Finance and Politics at the London School of Economics.

Brian McCabe, Head of EMEA Product & Innovation at State Street
Brian McCabe is Head of EMEA Product & Innovation at State Street and has held a variety of senior roles and Directorships at HSBC including Head of HSBC Securities Services Ireland & Guernsey and Head of Business Operations. He is a Chartered Director with the Institute of Directors in Ireland and holds a business degree from Swansea Institute, Wales.

Mark Bonham, Payments Compliance Program Manager EMEA/APAC at Airbnb
Mark Bonham is Payments Compliance Program Manager EMEA/APAC at Airbnb and Chair of FPAI’s Regulatory Insights Group. Having worked with Reinsurance start-ups in Ireland, UK & Bermuda. He is a Chartered Director and Certified International Cash Manager.
